Quality Assurance and Quality Control

In our role as Quality and Production Manager for a small aerospace company, we successfully implemented a production line for mass-producing miniaturized photonics components for a large, ISO 9000 registered customer.  Quality systems implemented for this production line included:

• Statistical Process Control (SPC) software
• SPC tracking of critical parameters
• Incoming inspection of all critical production components
• Production documentation necessary for consistent product quality, yield and delivery times
• Qualification of second-source suppliers, where available
• Hiring and training of production staff

The customer recommended no changes to the production infrastructure following a quality audit.  The production line gave exceptionally high yields, and product deliveries were typically on time or ahead of schedule.
